From Melbourne 1877 to Rawalpindi 2022: step back in time to watch the best matches

From Melbourne 1877 to Rawalpindi 2022: step back in time to watch the best matches

An epic travelogue that travels through time and space to witness 15 of cricket's most exciting matches, from England to the Subcontinent to Australia.

The idea for this article came to me about two months ago: what if I started an imaginary journey, traveling around the world, through the years, watching cricket matches in Unifrance channel. A suitable description for this trip could be "Around the world in 1000 years" or "70,000 kilometers above the clouds". I need two bikes for this odyssey. The first is a time machine that will take me back and forth in time. As much as I love the idea of HG Wells, I will opt for the modern version - TMACE (Time Machine for Ananth's Cricket Extravaganza), based on the wonderful TARDIS. The second is the plane that carries our cargo around the world, filling the seas with only one ship. The Gulfstream G800 will cover even our longest trips without leaving us on the water. Let's just say we found sponsors who made these two wonderful machines for us. Needless to say, we have to go through a phase of time first, then it is far away.

I'm going to do this world tour in two minutes. For the first time, I will start my journey in England, through the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and then to Australia. On my way home, I will go east from Australia to New Zealand, then west to Africa, the West Indies, then northeast to England. I will put test in ODI in this journey odyssey. A few points in their selection. I decided that Australia and England will get five matches each, since the concept of Test cricket started with these two teams and they play the most Tests.

The other teams share 20 games in the same way. Since the home and away games start and finish in England and Australia, I have divided the team's games into the two games.

The order of countries that have gone more or less is determined by geography. This results matrix was carefully designed, with all groups being well represented. I have an Excel sheet that serves as a journal and this will be made available to readers in the next article of this series. There are no plans to track traffic patterns within the city. In some cases, local proximity is used. No attempt has been made to increase/decrease travel time and distance.

Our first game was at the Oval. Therefore, no movement is necessary. But this was a game over a hundred years ago, so we need to increase TMACE. Let's go back 121 years, to be precise, to the end of the 1902 Ashes series, in Victorian England. Australia won the series and took a 2-0 lead. Only pride is at stake in the final game. A 0-3 맥스88 win at home would be too much for England.

Let's expand and take a Rolls Royce to The Oval. Maybe a top hat and an umbrella would be useful.

Australia won the toss, batting first and scoring 324. Almost everyone contributed, with Hugh Trumble's 64 being the top score. Then Trumble can't bowl and we see England slump to 183. Ah, the score is 3-0, it seems. But we see that Bill Lockwood, supported by other batsmen, dismisses Australia for 121. Still, very few give England a chance when they start chasing 263... READ MORE

In the chase, Jack Saunders collected the first four wickets, leaving England struggling at 48 for 5. Then Gilbert Jessop joined Stanley Jackson and added 100 for the sixth wicket. George Hirst gives Jessop good company. Then Jessop was out and it was time for another slide, bringing the score to 248 for 9. Hirst was joined by Wilfred Rhodes. "We will marry them," they thought. They also get the runs, if not the singles, to win tough games by the wicket. Trumble's pitch was unchanged in two innings. Our journey began with a beautiful game on the edge of the seat.

We are August 15, 1902. We will continue to 1999, and this process will be revealed about seven decades from this date. Our journey takes place in England and we travel 97 years in the future, to Edgbaston, around 200km to the northwest for the 1999 World Cup semi-final. The winner of this match will start the final, three days later, as the favorite to win the World Cup.

Australia batted first and got through to South African bowlers Shaun Pollock and Allan Donald. Michael Bevan and Steve Waugh's 50s brought them to 213 not out. Shane Warne weaves his magic web around the South Africans, and they find themselves at 213 for 9 in 49.3 overs. Unfortunately, they choose to run dangerously soon and Donald is tired. The game ends in a tie - and Australia will reach the final due to their top position. Herschelle Gibbs' costly fall to Steve Waugh in their final league game will haunt them forever. Australia continue to win and South Africa's trophy cabinet remains empty, even 23 years later.

We are entering TMACE and we are moving bags, luggage, aircraft and fuel to our next stop - 2017. We are currently on a long journey in the Middle East - in Abu Dhabi. Sri Lanka arrive in the United Arab Emirates to face 피나클 Pakistan in a seemingly neutral game. However, it is a game away from their eyes, and no one can argue with that. Pakistan is definitely a tough team to beat in UAE. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 419 runs. They were joined by a brilliant 155 by their skipper, Dinesh Chandimal. Pakistan combined the total with a perfect batting display. The lead is less

than the value of the mouse.

Then Sri Lanka, on a rolling pitch, was no match for Yasir Shah and was dismissed for 138, leaving Pakistan with a small target of 136 to win. It seems like a simple rule of thumb. But not for the lion-hearted Sri Lankan batsman, Rangana Herath. He opens the ball and breaks the back of a strong Pakistan team with a brilliant 6 for 43. He is well supported by Dilruwan Perera and Pakistan lose by 21 runs. A fantastic win for the Sri Lankans.
